Frequently Asked Questions
-
We come to you! Services are provided in the child’s natural environment, where they feel most comfortable and to make scheduling easier for caregivers. While sessions are typically conducted in-home, they can also be at a caregiver’s, such as a grandparent’s home; at daycare; at school; or in the community, such as at a library or park.
-
Yes, an evaluation is the first step in services because it helps us understand your child’s unique communication strengths and needs. Through play-based activities, observation, and standardized assessments, we build a complete picture of how your child communicates and interacts.
This information guides a personalized therapy plan with meaningful goals and gives families the chance to share insights and ask questions from the start—so therapy begins with clarity and confidence.
If your child has had a speech and language evaluation within the past year, we can use that report to begin services. Our team will review it and add any needed updates to best support your child’s current goals.

The benefits of in-home therapy are both practical and deeply meaningful. Research shows that therapy in natural environments supports faster progress, stronger relationships, and lasting results because learning happens right where life happens.
Better carryover: Children use new skills more easily when they practice them in the same spaces where they live and play.
More comfort and engagement: Being at home helps kids feel safe, confident, and motivated to communicate.
Stronger caregiver involvement: Parents and caregivers learn strategies in real time during daily routines like meals, play, or getting ready for school.
More meaningful learning: Therapy is woven into family life, making each session fun, relevant, and connected to what matters most.

Many families reach out because their child didn’t qualify for school-based or early intervention services, but still need extra support. Or, because they want more individualized therapy alongside services their child receives elsewhere.
At SoCal Therapy Network, we tailor every session to your child’s unique needs, build on existing goals, and collaborate with other professionals when appropriate. Whether your child already receives services or you’re seeking private support for the first time, we’re here to fill the gaps, provide consistent care, and help your child make meaningful, lasting progress.
-
You will receive an invoice, in the form of a superbill, for services at the end of each month for the prior month’s sessions.
-
Payment can be made via Zelle, check, or credit card.
-
Yes! Speech therapy is generally considered an eligible medical expense under most Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). If your HSA or FSA card can be processed as a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover), you can use it to pay directly for sessions.
If your card cannot be processed directly, you can pay using another method (Zelle, check, or credit card) and submit your superbill to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement. We’re happy to provide any supporting documentation you may need.

Our therapists work with children and young adults from birth through early adulthood (typically up to age 21).
-
Every child’s journey is unique. The length of therapy depends on your child’s goals, age, and how consistently skills are practiced at home and in daily routines. Some children meet their goals in a few months, while others benefit from ongoing support to build more complex skills over time. We’ll check progress regularly and adjust goals so therapy always feels purposeful and motivating.
-
You don’t have to be sure before reaching out — that’s what we’re here for. If you notice your child having difficulty being understood, using words to express needs, following directions, or keeping up with peers in communication or play, an evaluation can clarify whether therapy would be helpful. Even mild concerns are worth exploring early, as early support often leads to faster, more lasting progress.
-
Most families schedule sessions once or twice per week, depending on your child’s goals, attention, and daily routines. Some families start more frequently and taper as skills strengthen. We’ll work together to choose a schedule that fits your family’s needs and supports meaningful progress without overwhelming your routine.
-
Absolutely. Collaboration is a core part of our approach. When everyone supporting your child—parents, caregivers, teachers, and other therapists—shares strategies and goals, progress happens faster and carries over into daily life. With your permission, we’ll communicate with your child’s team to ensure consistent, coordinated support across home, school, and community settings.
